Fine wines

Wine cultivation has a century-old tradition in South Tyrol. On the Southern side of the Alps the days are warm and the nights mild, making it the perfect location for wine production.

The area of Merano/Meran and surroundings is dominated by a micro climate. The valley around Merano/Meran is protected by the Giogaia di Tessa/Texelgruppe mountain range to the North and therefore remains reasonable warm even in winter - perfect conditions for wine.

The area is renowned for local wines such as Vernatsch, Gewürztraminer and Lagrein, but also for famous wine types such as Blauburgunder, Merlot and Cabernet, Silvaner, Kerner, Sauvignon, Riesling etc.
