The history of our family business

Hospitality has a rich tradition here at Schenna Hotel Resort. The Pföstl family welcomed their first guests to the hotel as early as 50 years ago, at a time when Scena/Schenna still was a dreamy mountain village.

In 1968, Alois Pföstl founded Pension Etschblick guest house together with his parents and sister. In 1969, he married Rosl, a daughter of the Oberprantacher family, who owned the nearby Angererhof farm. Soon after this their children Heidi, Priska, Elisabeth, and the youngest, Stefan, were born.

Construction of what was to be Hotel Schwefelbad started in 1979, and in 1981 the hotel was opened during a festive ceremony. In 1994, the family also acquired Pension Mitterplatt, which is run by their daughter Heidi and her husband Hubert Wörndle. In 2004, the Resort complex was completed by the addition of Hotel Rosengarten. At all times, all three hotels remained under the management of the Pföstl-Wörndle family.

The Resort was further enriched by the acquisition of the Goyen vineyard below Goyen Castle in 2005. Soon the family's youngest son Stefan started producing his own wines, which you can taste at the hotel.

2011/12: Pension Mitterplatt is being turned into a 4-star hotel, a marvelous place for those looking for quiet and recreation.

Today, Schenna Hotel Resort is a modern, popular and high-quality vacation paradise. The Pföstl and Wörndle families make sure to retain the familiar atmosphere and warm charm of the Resort.
