The region of South Tyrol boasts a total of 30 ski resorts of varying sizes. The two main ski resorts are: Ortles/Ortler Ski Arena comprises a total of 16 small to medium-sized ski resorts in the Western part of the region, while the Dolomiti SuperSki association of ski areas covers the Eastern part. 19 of these resorts are located right in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Other notable resorts are the Tauferer Ahrntal area in the North-East and Eisacktaler Wipptal in the North of the region.
