A golden autumn in Schenna: hiking, fine dining and wine

When the vineyards and orchards around Schenna turn warm shades of gold and red, a very special season begins in South Tyrol. Pleasant temperatures invite you to explore the mountains on foot, regional autumn produce takes centre stage in the kitchens, and the grape harvest brings plenty of memorable moments of indulgence.

Törggelen season at Schenna Resort

At Schenna Resort, we celebrate the South Tyrolean autumn with our special Törggelen weeks. Look forward to traditional seasonal specialities, roasted chestnuts and cosy moments of culinary enjoyment. Of course, a good glass of South Tyrolean wine is an essential part of the experience – especially when it comes from our family-owned Pföstl winery. It is the perfect way to combine the traditional Törggelen season with wellness and relaxation.

Our hiking tip: the Schenna Waalweg trail

Autumn is the perfect time for a walk along the Schenna Waalweg. This leisurely trail follows historic irrigation channels through the cultivated landscape above the Merano basin. Vineyards, orchards and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains make it one of our favourite walks, particularly during the golden season.

Merano WineFestival 2026

From 6 to 10 November 2026, Merano will once again become a meeting place for wine lovers and gourmets at the 35th Merano WineFestival. The event opens with “TasteTerroir – bio&dynamica”, followed by “The Festival”, featuring outstanding international wines and culinary highlights. On 10 November, “Catwalk Champagne & More” brings the festival to a sparkling close.

From Schenna Resort, the festival can be perfectly combined with a few relaxing autumn days: spend the day discovering exceptional wines in Merano, unwind afterwards in our wellness area and round off the evening with the flavours of South Tyrolean cuisine.
