„Cause I’m G&T“ – Bartender Samuele's No-Waste Cocktail delights!

A high-proof delight for the palate was offered by the second South Tyrolean Gin & Tonic Festival „Cause I’m G&T“. On May 3rd and 4th, 2024, professionals and gin enthusiasts gathered at Schenna Castle to discover regional varieties such as „Sloe Gin“, „Edelschwarz Alpine Organic Gin“, and „La vita è bella Gin“. During tastings and lectures, they explored the various nuances of this trendy beverage. The program was further enriched by masterclasses, including one with Christian Heiss, head of the Kronenhalle Bar in Zurich. So-called „Flair Bartenders“ performed impressive shows, juggling and throwing bottles and mixing cocktails in an artistic manner. Experts also awarded the „Best G&T Cocktail 2024“.

Our bartender Samuele was part of the event and secured 2nd place with his creation! For his exceptional „No Waste“ cocktail, he used self-made carrot syrup in addition to gin and tonic. He transformed the carrot peels into stylish carrot chips as cocktail decoration.

Would you like to experience that special Gin and Tonic feeling at home? Here’s the recipe in a simplified form:


  • 40 ml Gin Dolomiti 8025
  • 15 ml carrot syrup
  • Tonic water
  • Sugar syrup (for making the carrot syrup)

Making the carrot syrup:

  • Cut or grate 3-4 carrots into small pieces.
  • Let the carrots soak in sugar syrup for 24 hours.
  • Strain the finished syrup.


  • Fill a long drink glass completely with ice cubes.
  • Pour 40 ml of gin into the glass.
  • Add 15 ml of carrot syrup.
  • Fill the glass to the brim with tonic water.
  • Stir the drink gently with a spoon or, preferably, a cocktail stirrer.
